Plaud Tops $100M ARR, Ships 2 Million AI Notetakers

Plaud has announced that its subscription-based software ecosystem has surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue, following the shipment of more than two million AI-powered notetaking devices. The company’s hardware lineup, which includes the Plaud Pro and the recently introduced Plaud Pin S, is designed for professionals who attend frequent meetings and require reliable audio capture without relying on digital screens. Both devices are priced at $179 and function as either standalone recorders or compact attachments that secure to the back of smartphones. Co-founder and CEO Nathan Xu positioned the company’s trajectory as a deliberate departure from the screen-bound AI model that dominates the current market. Rather than depending on digital prompts and text-based interfaces, Plaud emphasizes real-world interaction, allowing users to focus on face-to-face or virtual conversations while the hardware automatically generates summaries and action items. Xu stated that the market has validated this post-screen approach, noting that high-impact discussions rarely occur behind keyboards. To complement its hardware sales, Plaud has rapidly expanded its software capabilities. Earlier this year, the company released a desktop application capable of capturing system audio for online meetings, delivering structured notes akin to emerging industry standards. Last month, Plaud introduced Plaud Teams, an enterprise-focused solution featuring shared memory and collaborative note management for organizational use. The company’s monetization strategy remains tightly integrated with its physical devices. Each unit includes a baseline tier of 300 free transcription minutes, with users exceeding that limit encouraged to purchase monthly, annual, or add-on subscriptions. According to Xu, approximately half of all device owners transition to paid plans to support high-volume meeting schedules. Plaud does not currently offer standalone software subscriptions, ensuring its recurring revenue is directly tied to hardware adoption. The AI meeting assistant sector remains highly contested, with notable competition from established technology brands and specialized startups including Anker, Viaim, Vibe, and Pocket AI. Despite the crowded field, Plaud’s dual hardware-software model and enterprise expansion signals a deliberate push to capture long-term institutional contracts while maintaining its consumer-focused value proposition. By tying its $100 million revenue milestone to physical device distribution rather than pure software downloads, Plaud is establishing a distinct pathway for AI hardware monetization in a market increasingly saturated with digital-only tools.
