By utilizing the device's camera, this technology allows users to navigate, scroll, and click simply by moving their head. For Liam, this meant he could open assignments in Google Classroom and activate voice typing without assistance. The tool replaced the cumbersome switch setup, allowing him to complete his work independently and reclaim control over his daily school activities. To further streamline his experience, Maltais leveraged Gemini for Education, an AI tool designed for teaching and learning. Recognizing that Liam still faced challenges on educational sites like Khan Academy, Maltais used Gemini to generate code for a custom browser extension. This new extension scans websites for questions and highlights them, allowing Liam to access content with a single click rather than scrolling through lengthy pages. This combination of hardware accessibility and AI-driven customization represents a significant step forward for inclusive education in the district. By replacing physical barriers with intuitive digital solutions, the schools have removed the logistical hurdles that once hindered students with physical disabilities. The initiative demonstrates how integrating standard accessibility features with advanced AI coding tools can create a more equitable learning environment, ensuring that technology serves as a bridge to freedom rather than a hurdle to overcome.
