Samsung Electronics Deploys ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to Global Workforce
Samsung Electronics has officially launched a company-wide deployment of OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex, marking one of the artificial intelligence provider’s largest enterprise rollouts to date. Under the agreement, all Samsung Electronics staff in Korea and employees within its Device Experience division worldwide will gain access to the platforms. The initiative positions generative AI as a core operational infrastructure rather than a specialized tool for isolated teams. The deployment integrates ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex across technical and non-technical functions, including software engineering, product development, marketing, and manufacturing. ChatGPT Enterprise will support knowledge-intensive workflows such as information synthesis, document drafting, data analysis, and strategic ideation. The platform operates within Samsung’s existing security and governance frameworks, utilizing enterprise-grade data protection, access management, and compliance controls to ensure secure AI utilization. Codex, originally designed for software development, will assist engineers in writing, reviewing, and debugging code, while also enabling cross-functional teams to rapidly prototype internal tools, automate workflows, and build lightweight applications. Weekly active users for Codex in Korea have surged nearly 800 percent since February 1, 2026, underscoring rapid internal adoption. The partnership extends Samsung’s existing collaboration with OpenAI, which previously focused on supplying advanced memory semiconductors for next-generation AI infrastructure. The new deployment signals a strategic shift toward comprehensive workforce transformation and enterprise-wide AI integration. OpenAI Korea General Manager Harrison Kim emphasized that the rollout treats AI as a foundational platform for global innovation, enabling employees to accelerate execution, resolve complex operational challenges, and develop new products at scale. OpenAI will provide dedicated support to facilitate employee training and workflow optimization. This announcement aligns with a broader acceleration of enterprise AI adoption across South Korea. Seoul National University recently rolled out ChatGPT Edu to its entire academic and administrative community, advancing its transition to an AI-native campus. Simultaneously, OpenAI has partnered with Kakao to embed ChatGPT directly into KakaoTalk group conversations, integrating generative AI into everyday workplace communication. The momentum extends to major Korean conglomerates and tech firms, including LG Electronics, LG Uplus, GS E&C, Samsung SDS, TVING, Krafton, Toss, and Korea Zinc, which are actively leveraging ChatGPT Enterprise, OpenAI APIs, and Codex to modernize operations and enhance competitive advantage. By embedding advanced language models and code-generation capabilities into daily workflows, Samsung Electronics is establishing a benchmark for large-scale enterprise AI integration, while reinforcing the expanding commercial footprint of OpenAI in the global technology and manufacturing sectors.
