NVIDIA and Samsung Electronics have announced a groundbreaking collaboration to build a state-of-the-art AI factory powered by over 50,000 NVIDIA GPUs, marking a major leap in intelligent manufacturing. The project, unveiled during the APEC Summit, represents a fusion of advanced semiconductor production and AI-driven automation, setting a new global standard for smart, autonomous factories. The AI factory will integrate NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platforms with Samsung’s cutting-edge semiconductor technologies, enabling real-time data processing, predictive maintenance, and intelligent decision-making across the entire manufacturing lifecycle. By embedding AI directly into chip production, Samsung aims to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and accelerate innovation in next-generation semiconductor development. He emphasized that the partnership with Samsung, a global technology leader, will redefine how products are designed, built, and manufactured worldwide. The collaboration builds on a 25-year history of innovation, from early DRAM supply for NVIDIA’s first graphics card to the current development of high-bandwidth memory (HBM3E and HBM4) and advanced foundry services. Samsung is leveraging NVIDIA’s full stack of technologies, including CUDA-X libraries, the Omniverse platform for digital twins, and RTX PRO Server GPUs, to create a real-time, physics-accurate virtual replica of its fabrication plants. This digital twin enables global teams to simulate, test, and optimize production workflows before physical implementation, significantly shortening time-to-market and improving operational resilience. A key component of the project is the integration of NVIDIA’s cuLitho library into Samsung’s optical proximity correction (OPC) platform, which dramatically accelerates computational lithography—the most demanding step in chip manufacturing. This integration has delivered a 20x performance boost, enabling faster, more precise chip design and production. Beyond manufacturing, Samsung is advancing intelligent robotics using NVIDIA’s Isaac Sim and Jetson Thor platforms. These tools allow for rapid training and deployment of robots that can perceive, reason, and act in complex physical environments. By combining synthetic data from Omniverse with real-world inputs, Samsung is accelerating the development of humanoid robots and automated systems for industrial use. The companies are also working with Korean telecom providers and academic institutions to develop AI-RAN technology, merging artificial intelligence with mobile network infrastructure. This innovation is critical for enabling physical AI applications that require low-latency, high-bandwidth connectivity. Samsung is also enhancing its AI capabilities across its ecosystem, deploying proprietary AI models on over 400 million devices to deliver real-time translation, multilingual interaction, and intelligent summarization. These advancements underscore the company’s broader vision of embedding AI into every layer of its products and operations. The partnership between NVIDIA and Samsung signals a new era where AI is not just a tool for software but a core driver of hardware innovation, manufacturing efficiency, and intelligent systems—reshaping industries from semiconductors to robotics and beyond.
