Google Opens Largest AI Hardware Engineering Hub Outside U.S. in Taipei to Accelerate Global AI Innovation

We are opening a new hardware engineering hub in Taipei, marking Google’s largest AI infrastructure hardware engineering center outside the United States. This multidisciplinary site will bring together hundreds of employees and is designed to accelerate innovation in AI hardware. The hub will play a key role in developing the next generation of AI infrastructure, from chip design and system engineering to testing and deployment. This expansion builds on Google’s long-standing presence in Taiwan, a strategic location that uniquely combines world-class design and engineering talent with advanced manufacturing capabilities and global connectivity. Taiwan is home to Google’s first data center in the Asia Pacific region, and the company has made significant investments in multiple international subsea cable projects—collaborations with other technology leaders that link Taiwan to key global markets. The technologies created and tested in the Taipei hub will be integrated into Google’s global data centers and AI infrastructure, supporting the services billions of people use every day. These include Search, YouTube, and the latest advancements powered by Gemini. By deepening its commitment to Taiwan, Google is reinforcing its role in driving global AI innovation and strengthening the region’s position as a critical node in the world’s digital infrastructure.
