OpenClaw AI Agent officially launches on iOS and Android platforms
OpenClaw has officially launched its mobile application for iOS and Android, extending the open-source AI agent platform to smartphones and tablets. The announcement, shared on Tuesday, marks a significant expansion in accessibility for the automation-focused tool, allowing users to manage and deploy their custom AI agents directly from a mobile device. Through the new app, developers and casual users alike can connect their phones to the OpenClaw Gateway, a centralized routing layer that interfaces with AI agents and integrates the specialized tools required to execute complex tasks. The mobile release builds on a period of intense visibility for the project. Earlier this year, OpenClaw gained widespread attention through the viral launch of MoltBook, a social platform designed to operate entirely through automated agents. While subsequent investigations revealed that the experience relied partially on human operators masking as bots, the campaign effectively highlighted the practical potential of autonomous digital assistants. Amid rising interest in agentic AI, OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger announced in February that he had joined OpenAI to continue advancing autonomous software development. Functionally, the new mobile interface enables on-the-go deployment of agents previously configured for workflows ranging from software development to daily planning. Early adopters have reported varying degrees of success, with some praising the streamlined automation while others note reliability issues that remain under active development. The launch underscores a broader industry shift toward embedding intelligent agents across consumer platforms, positioning mobile devices as a primary command center for autonomous task execution. As AI agent ecosystems mature, tools like OpenClaw aim to bridge the gap between experimental automation and practical, everyday utility.
