Nvidia's Q1 Revenue Hits Record High at $81.6 Billion

NVIDIA today released its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 ending April 26, reporting revenue of $81.6 billion, up 20% sequentially and 85% year over year, setting a new record high. Diluted earnings per share on a GAAP basis were $2.39, while Non-GAAP diluted EPS was $1.87. Data Center segment revenue reached $75.2 billion, representing a 92% increase year over year and a 21% rise sequentially. NVIDIA also announced it will adopt a new reporting framework dividing operations into two major market platforms—Data Center and Edge Computing—with the Data Center further segmented into Hyperscale and ACIE (AI Cloud, Industrial, and Enterprise Services). Jensen Huang stated, "The construction of AI factories—the largest infrastructure expansion in human history—is accelerating at an extraordinary pace. Agentic AI has arrived, creating real productivity gains and scaling rapidly across industries." He simultaneously unveiled the Vera Rubin platform, featuring the world's first Vera CPU designed specifically for agentic AI, alongside open-source inference acceleration software Dynamo 1.0, which delivers up to sevenfold improvements in inference performance on Blackwell GPUs. Edge Computing business generated $6.4 billion in revenue, marking a 29% year-over-year growth. Other highlights included the announcement of an additional $80 billion stock buyback authorization and a significant quarterly dividend increase from $0.01 to $0.25. This quarter alone, NVIDIA returned approximately $20 billion to shareholders, establishing another record high. Looking ahead to the second quarter, NVIDIA forecasts revenue of approximately $91 billion (±2%) with a GAASP gross margin around 74.9%. The company noted that this guidance excludes any data center computing revenues derived from China.
