TII and NVIDIA Unveil Middle East’s First AI & Robotics Research Lab in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute (TII) and NVIDIA have officially launched the Middle East’s first joint research lab dedicated to artificial intelligence and robotics, named the NVIDIA AI & Robotics Research Lab (NVAITC). The new facility, located in Abu Dhabi, marks a significant milestone in advancing cutting-edge AI and robotics technologies across the region. The collaboration brings together TII’s deep expertise in foundational research and innovation with NVIDIA’s global leadership in AI computing, accelerated computing, and robotics platforms. The lab will focus on developing next-generation AI models, autonomous systems, and intelligent robotics solutions with applications in healthcare, smart cities, industrial automation, and sustainable energy. One of the lab’s primary goals is to accelerate the development of AI-driven robotics systems capable of operating safely and efficiently in complex, real-world environments. Researchers will leverage NVIDIA’s advanced hardware and software ecosystem, including the NVIDIA DGX platform, Omniverse simulation tools, and AI frameworks, to push the boundaries of what’s possible in machine learning and robotics. The initiative is part of TII’s broader mission to position Abu Dhabi as a global hub for AI innovation. By fostering public-private partnerships and investing in high-impact research, TII aims to drive technological self-reliance and economic diversification in the UAE. NVIDIA’s involvement underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its AI research footprint beyond North America and Europe. The NVAITC lab will also serve as a talent incubator, supporting local researchers, engineers, and students through training programs, joint publications, and innovation challenges. The launch of the lab follows a series of strategic partnerships between TII and global technology leaders, including recent collaborations in quantum computing and advanced materials. With this new center, the UAE is reinforcing its vision to become a leader in AI and robotics by 2030, aligning with national goals for digital transformation and sustainable development.
