Designed exclusively for adults, this update expands the assistant's existing library of styles, which currently includes Brief, Chill, and Sweet. To activate the Sassy mode, users must pass additional security verification through the Alexa mobile app. On iOS devices, this process involves a Face ID scan to confirm the user's age and identity. The feature is automatically disabled if Amazon Kids is enabled on the device. Amazon explicitly warns users that the Sassy style employs explicit language. Upon selection, the app displays a caution that the tone includes mature subject matter and will utilize a mix of wit, roasts, and reality checks. The assistant describes its new persona with the motto: help first, judge always. It promises to answer queries while delivering charm and compliments that may sting, aiming to be honest, sharp, and funny without apology. Despite the adult-oriented branding, Amazon clarified that Sassy does not engage in not-safe-for-work content. The assistant will strictly avoid generating explicit sexual content, hate speech, illegal activities, personal attacks, or any material that could cause harm. This distinction differentiates the feature from other AI companions known for unrestricted adult conversations, such as Grok.
