In addition to research infrastructure, the partnership emphasizes talent development and safety. To support the next generation of Korean AI professionals, Google plans to facilitate connections with Google DeepMind and explore internship opportunities for students. This effort builds on Google's broader regional commitment, which recently included the distribution of 50,000 AI Essentials scholarships to help job seekers acquire foundational skills. On the safety front, Google will collaborate with the Korean AI Safety Institute on research and best practices, following the Frontier AI Safety Commitments made during the AI Seoul Summit. The partnership also looks to build upon the legacy of AlphaGo, a milestone achievement that demonstrated the power of AI in complex problem-solving. Google expressed excitement about supporting the government's investments in local infrastructure, such as the upcoming National AI for Science Center scheduled to open in May.
