Zuckerberg desk photo reveals Muse agent building Tamagotchi pet
Meta Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg introduced Muse Spark Open by sharing a photograph of his office desk at Meta headquarters, turning a product announcement into a demonstration of the company’s agent capabilities. Zuckerberg described Muse Spark Open as the most capable U.S. open-weight model released to date, emphasizing that it can run with a comparatively simple desktop configuration. Meta said it has worked with Apple to enable the model to operate on two M5 Ultra Mac Studio machines, underscoring its push to make advanced AI tools accessible beyond specialized data-center infrastructure. Business Insider used Meta’s Muse agent to examine the image and identify items visible on Zuckerberg’s workspace. The analysis highlighted the desk itself as a showcase of Meta’s broader hardware and AI strategy. The screen behind Zuckerberg appeared to show him interacting with a Muse agent named Agrippa, after Roman general Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa. In the exchange, Agrippa described the “official form” of a virtual pet, including a chunky cream-and-gold 1990s egg design, blinking red LED, speaker grille and Feed, Train and Play buttons. Zuckerberg then asked the agent to build it on his Mac, prompting the model to begin creating a software simulation of the Tamagotchi-style pet while a terminal displayed the agent’s implementation work. The photo also revealed other elements associated with Meta’s consumer and AI ambitions. The workspace included the company’s latest Apple hardware, AI-powered glasses central to Meta’s wearables strategy, and branded items such as the Muse AI mascot Jolly and a Muse Charm. A bottle of Noble Champagne and assorted desk trinkets added personal touches to the executive setting, but the central technical signal came from the screen and the accompanying announcement. The post framed Zuckerberg’s desk as both a personal workspace and a live testbed for Meta’s latest model release. By asking Muse to interpret the image, Meta showcased the kind of visual reasoning and agentic behavior it wants developers to associate with Muse Spark Open. The company’s emphasis on open-weight distribution and desktop compatibility suggests it is seeking to broaden adoption among developers, researchers and enterprises that want powerful models without relying entirely on cloud-based inference.
