Ideogram Vector Generates Editable SVGs from Text and Images
Ideogram has introduced Ideogram Vector, a new AI tool that generates fully editable Scalable Vector Graphics from text prompts or uploaded images. The launch expands Ideogram’s generative media lineup beyond raster outputs by delivering SVG files whose individual shapes can be modified, recolored, resized, and reused without quality loss. The tool supports two core workflows. Text to Vector generates new vector artwork from written descriptions, while Image to Vector converts existing raster illustrations, logos, symbols, or graphics into editable SVG versions. Generated assets can be downloaded directly as .svg files, giving designers, marketers, developers, and other visual teams a scalable starting point for logos, lettering, posters, icons, packaging motifs, game assets, and print-ready graphics. A key advantage of the format is its resolution independence. Unlike PNG or JPEG files, vector shapes remain crisp when enlarged, making them useful for large-format printing and scalable digital interfaces. After generation, users can open files in vector editors to adjust colors, proportions, spacing, and individual elements. The article also highlights an in-product editing workflow in which users can right-click an SVG and instruct an agent to make targeted changes, reducing the need to regenerate entire designs or manually edit complex files. Ideogram Vector is especially relevant for work where iterative refinement matters. A logo, for example, can be generated as vector shapes and then adjusted without starting from a blank canvas. Designers can test color alternatives, resize elements, and adapt layouts for different brand materials. The same generated artwork can also be reused across websites, packaging, social assets, and printed collateral while maintaining visual consistency. The tool is not positioned as a full replacement for professional vector design software. Lettering can be delivered as vector shapes, which allows recoloring and reshaping, but editable text behavior may depend on how the final SVG is constructed. Users should inspect files before publishing to confirm whether text is live, outlined, or built from decorative shapes. Detailed SVGs may also grow large because of numerous paths, so developers should review file size before using complex illustrations in production web environments. Ideogram Vector is scheduled to launch on October 22, 2026, at noon Eastern Time. Once available, users can access it from the Ideogram Apps menu. Specific access requirements and credit costs are expected to be shown in user accounts, while separate Vector pricing details remain to be confirmed.
