Anthropic raises $30 billion in Series G at $380 billion valuation

Anthropic has raised $30 billion in a Series G funding round led by GIC and Coatue, valuing the company at $380 billion post-money. The round was co-led by D. E. Shaw Ventures, Dragoneer, Founders Fund, ICONIQ, and MGX, with significant participation from top-tier investors including Accel, Addition, BlackRock, Blackstone, Fidelity, Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Insight Partners, Sequoia Capital, Temasek, TPG, and others. The funding includes a portion of previously announced investments from Microsoft and NVIDIA, underscoring strong strategic backing. This capital will fuel Anthropic’s continued leadership in enterprise AI and coding, accelerating frontier research, product development, and infrastructure expansion. The company has grown rapidly since its first dollar in revenue less than three years ago, now achieving a run-rate revenue of $14 billion—up over 10x annually for three consecutive years. Customer adoption has surged, with the number of annual enterprise customers spending over $100,000 on Claude increasing sevenfold in the past year. The number of customers spending over $1 million annually has grown from 12 to over 500 in two years, including eight of the Fortune 10. Claude Code, launched to the public in May 2025, has become a transformative force in software development. Its run-rate revenue now exceeds $2.5 billion, more than doubling since early 2026. Weekly active users have doubled since January 1, and a recent analysis found that 4% of all public GitHub commits worldwide are now authored by Claude Code—up from 2% just a month prior. Enterprise use now accounts for over half of all Claude Code revenue, and business subscriptions have quadrupled since the start of 2026. Anthropic’s product momentum continued in January with over thirty new features and tools launched, including Cowork—a platform that extends Claude Code’s capabilities to broader knowledge work. Cowork integrates eleven open-source plugins enabling Claude to act as a specialist for roles in sales, legal, finance, and more. The company has also expanded into healthcare and life sciences, with HIPAA-compliant versions of Claude for Enterprise now available. The latest model, Opus 4.6, launched last week, demonstrates advanced agentic capabilities, enabling AI agents to generate professional-quality documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. It is the world’s leading model on GDPval-AA, a benchmark measuring performance on high-value real-world tasks in finance, law, and other domains. Anthropic remains the only frontier AI model available across all three major cloud platforms—AWS (Bedrock), Google Cloud (Vertex AI), and Microsoft Azure (Foundry)—and runs on a diversified hardware stack including AWS Trainium, Google TPUs, and NVIDIA GPUs. This flexibility ensures optimal performance and resilience for enterprise clients. Leadership from investors praised Anthropic’s rapid progress. Philippe Laffont of Coatue highlighted the company’s focus on agentic coding and enterprise AI as key drivers of adoption. Choo Yong Cheen of GIC called Anthropic the clear category leader, noting its leadership in safety, performance, and scale. With growing demand from startups, entrepreneurs, and global enterprises, Anthropic is positioned to lead the transition from AI experimentation to large-scale, mission-critical implementation. The Series G funding reflects strong market confidence in its vision to build the intelligence platform of choice for the future of work.
