NVIDIA GTC 2026: What's Next for AI
NVIDIA GTC 2026, taking place March 16-19 in San Jose, California, is set to feature major announcements regarding agentic AI and physical computing infrastructure. The event will host 30,000 attendees across ten venues, with the primary focus on the full stack of AI technology, including chips, software, models, and applications. The highlight of the conference is the keynote address by NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang, scheduled for Monday, March 16, at 11 a.m. PT at the SAP Center. This session will cover critical topics such as AI factories, inference optimization, and the massive energy scale required for next-generation AI, often measured in gigawatts. The day begins with a pre-game show at 8 a.m. featuring leaders from Perplexity, LangChain, Mistral, Skild AI, and OpenEvidence. On Wednesday, March 18, Huang will moderate a panel on open versus closed models alongside industry figures from LangChain, A16Z, AI2, and Cursor. A central interactive feature of GTC 2026 is the Build-a-Claw event in GTC Park, running daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. between March 16 and 19, excluding the Monday keynote. This session allows attendees to customize and deploy proactive AI agents using OpenClaw, the fastest-growing open-source project in history. Participants can define an agent's personality, name it, and grant access to specific tools to create a personalized assistant for tasks ranging from calendar management to coding. NVIDIA experts will provide on-site support, and attendees can run these agents using onsite cloud compute or by bringing their own NVIDIA DGX Spark or GeForce laptops. The hardware, including Jetson modules, will also be available for purchase. Beyond the main stages, the conference offers 700+ sessions, 70+ hands-on training labs, and onsite certification exams at no extra cost. Technical sessions include a discussion on AI in climate and energy research led by Dario Gil from the U.S. Department of Energy and Ian Buck, NVIDIA Vice President of Hyperscale Computing, on Tuesday, March 17. Later that day, Sir Lucian Grainge, Chairman of Universal Music Group, will discuss the intersection of music and AI with Richard Kerris. The schedule also includes 150 researcher posters focusing on robotics and model innovation. A continuous livestream on the GTC Developer Community YouTube channel will provide real-time coverage of hackathons, demos, and direct interaction with engineers. For those unable to attend virtually or in person, the keynote will be streamed free of charge from NVIDIA.com without registration. The conference campus at Cesar Chavez Park will host day and night markets, with the day market running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the night market until 9 p.m. Registration is open at nvidia.com/gtc, with a promotional code GTC26-2 offering a 20% discount. The event concludes on Thursday afternoon, with continuous updates provided throughout the week on the official NVIDIA blog.
