Google for Education Launches Free AI Training for 6 Million U.S. Educators with Gemini and NotebookLM
Our commitment to make AI training available to all 6 million U.S. educators AI has the potential to transform education by enabling personalized learning and empowering students to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. Yet for many educators, integrating this technology into their classrooms can feel overwhelming—especially when they’re already managing heavy workloads. Existing AI training programs often demand significant time and fail to deliver practical, classroom-ready applications. At Google for Education, we believe every educator deserves the tools and support needed to harness AI effectively—without adding to their burden. That’s why we’re launching a groundbreaking initiative in partnership with ISTE and ASCD to provide free, comprehensive Gemini training to all 6 million K-12 and higher education faculty across the United States. This is the largest AI training effort of its kind, designed to help educators and their more than 74 million students use Google’s AI tools—such as Gemini and NotebookLM—safely, ethically, and meaningfully. Our approach is built around the needs of real educators. The training modules are short, flexible, and designed by educators for educators. Each bite-sized session includes real-world examples that show how AI can be used immediately in classrooms. After completing a module, educators earn micro-credentials—digital badges that recognize their growing AI literacy and proficiency with Google’s tools. The content is developed using the ISTE+ASCD Profile of an AI Ready Graduate, a framework that prepares students with the essential skills to succeed in an AI-driven future. It also aligns with the latest standards for educator development, ensuring relevance and rigor. Key topics include: - How teachers can create personalized lessons for each student using real-time assessment data - How faculty can use Gemini to act as an individualized study coach for every student—even in large lecture halls - How K–12 educators can adapt existing curriculum materials to meet diverse student needs, including varying reading levels, primary languages, and learning preferences - How instructors can use NotebookLM to help students generate customized study guides, infographics, or interactive podcasts—enabling learning styles that match each student’s strengths By equipping educators with practical, actionable knowledge, this initiative aims to reduce the barriers to AI adoption and unlock new possibilities for teaching and learning. Our goal is simple: to empower every educator with the confidence and tools to use AI not just as a technology, but as a partner in creating more inclusive, engaging, and effective classrooms.
