Google expands AI-powered Flight Deals globally, introduces enhanced travel planning with Canvas and agentic booking in Search

Google is expanding its AI-powered travel tools globally, unveiling new features in Search designed to simplify trip planning and bookings. The company announced the rollout of its AI-driven “Flight Deals” tool to over 200 countries and territories, including the U.K., France, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea. Initially launched in August for users in the U.S., Canada, and India, the feature now reaches a broader audience with support for more than 60 languages. Flight Deals uses artificial intelligence to help users find affordable travel options. By describing their desired destination, travel dates, and preferences, users receive personalized recommendations for flights and destinations based on real-time pricing data. The tool analyzes trends and identifies the best deals, enabling faster, smarter decision-making. Alongside the global expansion, Google is introducing enhanced capabilities in AI Mode within Google Flights. One key addition is the integration of the Canvas tool, which allows users to build detailed travel plans in a side panel. When users select “Create with Canvas,” AI generates a comprehensive itinerary using live data from Google Flights, hotel listings, Google Maps (including photos, reviews, and location details), and relevant content from across the web. The AI-powered plan includes tailored suggestions such as hotel comparisons based on price, amenities, and proximity to attractions, as well as recommendations for restaurants and activities optimized by travel time from accommodations. Users can refine their plans through follow-up questions—like balancing proximity to a favorite brunch spot against access to hiking trails—enabling dynamic, interactive planning. Canvas-based travel planning is currently available on desktop for U.S. users who are participating in the AI Mode experiment through Google’s Labs program. Google is also expanding access to its agentic booking features in AI Mode. Earlier this year, select users could use AI to book restaurant reservations, event tickets, and wellness appointments. Now, these capabilities are being made available to all U.S. users. For example, users can request dinner reservations by specifying party size, date, time, location, and cuisine, and AI will search across multiple platforms to find real-time availability, then present a curated list of suitable options. Looking ahead, Google plans to enable end-to-end booking directly within AI Mode. Users will be able to compare flights and hotels, view detailed information such as schedules, prices, room photos, amenities, and reviews, and complete bookings without leaving the interface—streamlining the entire travel planning and reservation process.
