Henry Schein One Launches Natively Embedded AI Workflows at 2025 GNYDM, Introducing Voice Notes, Smart Forms, and AI-Powered Tools to Boost Efficiency and Patient Care
Henry Schein One has unveiled a groundbreaking, natively embedded AI and automation workflow at the 2025 Greater New York Dental Meeting, introducing industry-first features designed to streamline dental practice operations. The new suite of tools, integrated directly into the Dentrix and Dentrix Ascend platforms, aims to enhance efficiency, improve clinical outcomes, and boost revenue through cleaner claims and smarter workflows. At the heart of the launch is Voice Notes, a hands-free, real-time transcription and summarization tool powered by generative AI. It captures chairside conversations, automatically converting them into accurate clinical notes, reducing administrative burden, and allowing dental teams to focus more on patient care. A recent Yale University study cited a 15% reduction in clinician burnout within 30 days of using AI scribe technology—highlighting the potential impact of this innovation. The new Forms workflow simplifies patient intake by enabling front office staff to capture insurance data instantly through a simple photo of a patient’s insurance card using OCR (optical character recognition). This reduces manual entry errors and speeds up the registration process. Matt Hall, Chief Experience Officer at Smile Brands, Inc., praised the feature, noting it has delivered a win-win-win across team experience, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency, with seamless rollout across all Ascend practices. Eligibility Pro takes pre-appointment preparation a step further by pulling real-time benefits data directly from insurance portals and populating patient records with up-to-date coverage details—ensuring teams have accurate information before the first visit. At the chairside, Detect AI, powered by VideaHealth, uses FDA-cleared algorithms to analyze dental x-rays and identify caries and bone loss with high accuracy. The new Detect AI Impact Panel enhances patient communication by visualizing findings and treatment recommendations, increasing understanding, trust, and treatment acceptance. Phones, another new feature, ties patient calls directly to electronic records. With a call pop that displays key patient information as soon as the phone rings, and AI-powered summaries that capture conversation notes and sentiment, teams can respond with greater confidence and consistency. Complementing these tools is Claire, a multilingual, 24/7 support assistant available via chat or phone, offering round-the-clock help for staff and patients. Dr. Ryan Hungate, Chief Clinical and Strategy Officer at Henry Schein One, emphasized the company’s focus on purposeful, deeply integrated AI: “We’re not adding AI in pieces. We’re embedding it into every step of the patient journey—from first contact to final payment—so it works seamlessly, saves time, increases accuracy, and improves margins.” Looking ahead, Henry Schein One plans to expand its AI capabilities with predictive scheduling tools, AI-driven coding and documentation support, and unified analytics dashboards that deliver real-time insights into clinical and business performance. Dr. Jason Mann, Co-Founder and Chief Dental Officer at Providence Dental Partners, said, “Henry Schein One isn’t just talking about the future of dentistry—they’re building workflows that are intuitive and deliver real value today.” Dental professionals can experience the new features live at Henry Schein One’s booth #4021 during the Greater New York Dental Meeting, November 30–December 3, 2025, with daily happy hours from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. ET through December 2.
