Google Expands Find Hub to Locate Items Without Physical Trackers
Google is expanding its Android Find Hub ecosystem with a significant update that enables users to locate misplaced items without requiring physical trackers. As part of the company’s monthly feature drop, the updated Find Hub will integrate directly with Gemini to allow users to log the location of infrequently used items, such as travel documents or seasonal equipment. The AI assistant will store the designated location and permit users to attach reference photographs. Items can subsequently be retrieved through Gemini’s conversational interface or a dedicated remembered items section within the Find Hub dashboard. The functionality requires Android 16 and will roll out in regions where both services are commercially available. The same feature drop introduces Motion Assist, a mobility comfort tool designed to mitigate motion sickness during vehicle transit. By projecting dynamic visual reference dots onto the display that sync with real-time vehicle acceleration and turning, the system provides visual stabilization cues for passengers. Guided Vision is also debuting as an accessibility and utility enhancement. Leveraging the device camera alongside Gemini Live, the feature identifies specific objects, deciphers fine print on labels, and locates ingredients in cluttered environments. It includes real-time audio guidance to optimize camera alignment and operates on Android 9 and newer. Additional productivity enhancements include customizable chat themes for Google Messages, which dynamically adjust text bubble styling to match selected background imagery. The update also unlocks collaborative note-taking within Google Messages through Google Keep, enabling group participants to jointly create and edit shared lists for grocery planning, travel arrangements, or project coordination. These updates will deploy via the standard Android feature drop schedule beginning this month. Compatibility ranges from Android 9 for utility features to Android 16 for AI-driven item tracking. The rollout will prioritize supported markets and device manufacturers integrated with the Android ecosystem.
