Meta Enhances Ray-Ban Display Glasses with Teleprompter, Virtual Writing, and Expanded Navigation

Meta is introducing new features to its Ray-Ban Display glasses, enhancing their functionality for hands-free communication and navigation. The latest update, unveiled during CES on Tuesday, includes an EMG handwriting feature that allows users to type messages by writing in the air or on any surface using their hand—no phone or keyboard required. Instead, the system relies on the Meta Neural Band, which detects subtle muscle movements to interpret handwritten input. This feature is currently available as an early access option in WhatsApp and Messenger. In addition, Ray-Ban Display users can now access a teleprompter function that lets them transfer notes from their smartphone into customizable text cards viewable through the glasses. The Neural Band enables users to scroll through the cards with simple gestures, making it easier to reference information during conversations or presentations. The update also expands the beta version of the Pedestrian Navigation feature to four new cities: Denver, Las Vegas, Portland, and Salt Lake City. This feature provides turn-by-turn walking directions directly in the user’s field of view, helping guide them through urban environments. While still in limited rollout, the navigation function is now available in dozens of cities worldwide. These additions reflect Meta’s ongoing effort to turn its smart glasses into a more practical and intuitive daily tool, focusing on seamless interaction through gesture and neural input.
