About TR35 China: Over two decades ago, MIT Technology Review launched the “35 Innovators Under 35” list in Cambridge, Massachusetts, spotlighting young scientists and entrepreneurs who were redefining the future. Since then, the list has become a global benchmark for identifying the most promising innovators under 35. Many past honorees—once unknown names—are now household names in science and technology: Stanford’s Dr. Yi Cui, who pioneered advanced materials; Harvard’s Dr. Xiaowei Zhuang, a leader in super-resolution microscopy; and MIT’s Dr. Feng Zhang, a pioneer in CRISPR gene editing. Each honoree represents a unique force in innovation—whether as a Pioneer, Inventor, Visionary, Entrepreneur, or Humanitarian. In 2017, MIT Technology Review partnered with DeepTech to launch the China edition of the list, aiming to recognize and inspire the next generation of Chinese innovators. To date, the program has identified 280 outstanding young leaders across eight editions. In 2025, the “35 Innovators Under 35” China list continues its mission: to discover, celebrate, and amplify the voices of the most daring, creative, and impactful young minds in science and technology—those who are not just building the future, but defining it.
