Caselaw is a legal literature dataset released by the University of Toronto in 2025.The Common Pile v0.1: An 8TB Dataset of Public Domain and Openly Licensed Text". This dataset contains 6.7 million cases from the Caselaw Access Project and Court Listener. The Caselaw Access Project contains nearly 40 million pages of decisions and opinions from U.S. federal and state courts over the past 365 years. Court Listener contains over 900,000 cases crawled from 479 courts. The Caselaw Access Project and Court Listener source legal data from a variety of sources, including only documents that are in the public domain, such as the Harvard Law Library, the Law Library of Congress, and the Supreme Court database.
