Compute Node

A compute node is a computer and its supporting equipment used in the field of computer science and technology. It usually refers to a computer or server used to perform computing tasks in a distributed computing system. In distributed computing, a task is usually broken down into multiple subtasks, and each computing node is responsible for processing a part of the subtasks, and finally the results are aggregated to a central node. Computing nodes communicate and exchange data through the network. Currently, most computing nodes have two slots, each of which has a CPU, volatile working memory (RAM), a hard drive (usually small and only used to store temporary files), and a network card.

In the fields of large-scale data processing, scientific computing, deep learning, etc., the use of computing nodes can effectively improve computing efficiency and accelerate the computing process. For example, during deep learning training, multiple computing nodes can be used to process different samples simultaneously, thereby shortening the training time.

The scale and performance of computing nodes are usually adjusted and configured according to specific application scenarios and needs. For example, the number of computing nodes can be increased or the processing power of a single node can be improved to meet different computing requirements.
