Legal AI Startup Legora Raises $550M Series E at $8.8B Valuation

Legal AI startup Legora has raised a $550 million Series E round, lifting its valuation to $8.8 billion. The funding, announced Wednesday, underscores investor appetite for AI platforms tailored to legal workflows as the sector shifts from basic AI assistants toward systems that help professionals execute substantive legal work. Legora raised the round from Atreides Management, which led the investment, alongside Baron Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, Menlo, and other backers. The company plans to deploy the capital primarily to expand across North America, deepening its presence in one of the largest legal technology markets. The raise arrives amid intensifying competition in legal AI, most notably from Harvey, which announced a separate $550 million funding round just a month earlier. Harvey has been valued at $15.5 billion and previously disclosed annual recurring revenue above $200 million, positioning itself as Legora’s primary rival in the high-growth legal AI segment. Legora’s latest financing follows an April extension of its Series D round, a $50 million addition to a previously announced $550 million raise that valued the company at $5.6 billion. At that time, Legora reported annual recurring revenue of $100 million. On Wednesday, the company said its ARR has since surpassed $200 million, reflecting accelerating demand for its AI-driven legal workflow tools. The updated valuation and revenue trajectory signal continued momentum for Legora as law firms and legal teams increasingly adopt AI to automate document review, drafting, research, and workflow management. The company’s growth also highlights how venture capital remains concentrated on vertical AI applications with clear enterprise deployment paths, particularly in sectors where document-heavy processes create near-term productivity opportunities.
