SpaceX Signs $1.1B Monthly Compute Deal With Unnamed Customer

SpaceX Chief Financial Officer Bret Johns recently stated at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia & Technology Conference that the company has signed a new AI compute hosting agreement expected to generate approximately $1.1 billion in monthly revenue starting December 1, 2026, though the client’s identity remains undisclosed. Annualizing this December revenue level, SpaceX projects an end-of-year run rate of $100 billion, which does not equate to actual full-year 2026 revenue. Previously, Google signed a compute agreement worth roughly $920 million per month with SpaceX, while Anthropic agreed to pay about $1.25 billion monthly for its computing resources. SpaceX primarily provides these services through its Colossus infrastructure located in Memphis, Tennessee, and Mississippi. The company also noted it had secured cloud contracts totaling approximately $6.7 billion over six months within weeks after the start of the third quarter. In the second quarter, capital expenditures related to SpaceX's AI business amounted to around $15.8 billion, against total corporate capex of approximately $18.4 billion. Management expects overall capital spending in the third and fourth quarters to remain at similar levels. Meanwhile, the company is exploring orbital computing technologies, aiming to launch its first batch of computational satellites by 2027 to validate relevant capabilities; however, public filings indicate formal deployment may occur no earlier than 2028. This project currently faces multiple challenges including launch costs, thermal management, communications, and regulatory hurdles.
