Apple Adds AI Assistant to Pages, Keynote, Numbers

Apple is introducing an AI assistant across its productivity suite, bringing new generative and document-aware capabilities to Keynote, Pages and Numbers. Built on AI models from Apple and OpenAI, the assistant can interpret the context of a document and help users design, animate and refine presentations in Keynote. In Pages, it can draft, restructure and polish written content, while in Numbers it can calculate, visualize and organize data, suggest chart types and create custom tables. The productivity apps are also adding support for the Model Context Protocol on macOS 27 or later, enabling third-party AI agents to integrate with Keynote, Pages and Numbers. The Apple AI assistant is rolling out in beta to devices compatible with Apple Intelligence and running iOS 27, iPadOS 27 or macOS 27 or later. Apple is also updating its creative tools. Pixelmator Pro is receiving a Generate Fill feature that lets users edit portions of an image by describing the desired changes, with Apple saying the tool will match the lighting, perspective and texture of surrounding areas for seamless results. Logic Pro for Mac and iPad is getting a Liquid Glass redesign and an AI assistant capable of setting up a vocal track from a single prompt and assisting with project edits. A redesigned Browser on Mac will use on-device AI to automatically analyze, classify and tag added sounds. Final Cut Pro is also being updated with integrated MotionVFX templates, graphics, titles and transitions, along with a built-in Content Hub featuring stock videos, photos and backgrounds. The updated Creator Studio tools will be available to existing subscribers at no additional cost in November.
