Anthropic Signs $10B Compute Deal With AI Cloud Startup Volta

Anthropic has secured a six-year, $10 billion cloud computing partnership with newly established AI infrastructure provider Volta. Under the agreement, Volta will supply dedicated high-performance compute capacity to the developer behind the Claude language model. The initiative will be executed in collaboration with cryptocurrency mining operator Bitdeer, which will co-develop a dedicated data center facility in Norway. The site is designed to deliver 133 megawatts of power capacity, heavily utilizing Nvidia latest Vera Rubin architecture to optimize large-scale training workloads. This strategic alliance marks the latest in Anthropic rapid expansion of its computational backbone. The company has recently finalized similar infrastructure agreements with Amazon and SpaceX, reflecting an industry-wide race to secure reliable, high-density compute resources amid intensifying competition in the foundational artificial intelligence sector. Volta, which launched earlier this year and operates within Nvidia Cloud Partner ecosystem, had previously hinted at a major laboratory partnership without disclosing its identity.
