### Abstract: Wuhan University Completes the City's First Comprehensive Large-Scale Social Survey Wuhan University's Social Survey Research Center has recently completed the first comprehensive and continuous large-scale social survey in Wuhan, titled "The Wuhan Comprehensive Social Status Survey Report." This project, which builds on the late 20th-century focus-funded research by the Wuhan Municipal Committee and Government, "The Study and Design of the Image of Wuhan People in the 21st Century," offers detailed insights into various aspects of Wuhan's social landscape. The survey, conducted over a period of more than a year, involved 101 doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate students and has provided valuable data to both governmental and academic sectors. #### Methodology and Scope Unlike previous surveys, this comprehensive study targeted Wuhan residents as a whole, employing a multi-stage sampling technique to ensure scientific accuracy. Advanced cartographic sampling methods were used to draw a sampling frame, and 2000 households were randomly selected across 63 villages (or community committees) in the city. The questionnaire was meticulously designed to consider Wuhan's unique temporal and spatial characteristics, political culture, and social demographics. It aimed to gather data on the overall condition of Wuhan residents, the city's social status, evaluations of government performance, and perceptions of education. To enhance the survey's depth and reliability, the School of Remote Sensing and Information Engineering at Wuhan University integrated Voronoi (Thiessen polygons) regional partitioning techniques and desktop sampling software. This approach effectively combined spatial sampling methods with social research, providing dynamic and multi-layered trajectory data through the installation of specialized mobile research apps and vehicle GPS systems.
