Google AI Note App Transcribes Meetings Completely Offline
Google has launched Google AI Edge Foresight, an experimental note-taking application that processes meeting audio and transcriptions entirely on-device. Built for macOS and optimized for Apple Silicon processors, the tool leverages the EmbeddingGemma 2 foundation model to function without requiring an internet connection. Unlike many competitors in the rapidly expanding AI productivity sector, Foresight operates completely offline, ensuring that meeting recordings, local documents, and user annotations never transmit beyond the user computer. The application streamlines meeting workflows by automatically transcribing conversations and generating concise summaries. Users can input shorthand bullet points in real time, which the system subsequently expands into polished, structured notes based on the complete transcript. Additionally, a built-in conversational assistant enables attendees to query the captured audio and reference uploaded local files for contextual answers. By prioritizing on-device processing, Google positions Foresight as a privacy-focused alternative to cloud-dependent meeting tools. The app currently supports only Mac computers with Apple Silicon chips, reflecting a strategic emphasis on local AI compute capabilities. As the market for AI-driven documentation software matures, Foresight differentiates itself through its commitment to offline functionality and strict data sovereignty, appealing to individual users and organizations with heightened security and compliance requirements. The release underscores Google broader initiative to integrate efficient, lightweight AI models directly into consumer hardware ecosystems.
