Meanwhile, the National Laboratory of the Rockies has embedded Gemini into its materials science instrumentation, establishing an autonomous experimentation workflow that reduced microscope calibration time from over ninety minutes to approximately thirteen and consolidated dozens of manual focusing steps into two. These optimizations have shifted routine hardware operations into real-time, AI-driven decision loops, freeing researchers to target previously inaccessible design spaces. The Genesis Mission investment represents a structural shift in federal research methodology, prioritizing scalable AI adoption to accelerate breakthroughs in energy, national security, and fundamental science.
