Insuretech Outmarket Raises $34.5M Series B Four Months Later
Insuretech startup Outmarket has secured a $34.5 million Series B funding round, bringing its post-money valuation to $355 million. The round, led by SignalFire with additional participation from Fika Ventures, Permanent Capital Ventures, TTV Capital, and Dash Fund, arrives just four months after the company closed a $17 million Series A. The rapid capital raise underscores strong investor confidence in the company’s AI-driven approach to modernizing commercial insurance brokerage. Founded in late 2023 by Vishal Sankhala, a veteran engineering executive and former product lead at digital life insurer Ethos, Outmarket was built to address a persistent inefficiency in the insurance sector. Despite the massive scale of the industry, approximately 95 percent of policies are still sold through human agents, a process heavily reliant on manual data entry and document handling. Sankhala, who previously held technology roles at Facebook and Uber, identified commercial insurance as the most acute pain point due to its highly customized nature. Brokers and large carriers must navigate over 250 distinct coverage types, each requiring unique application forms, risk assessments, and compliance documentation. Outmarket’s platform leverages artificial intelligence to automate these labor-intensive administrative workflows. By digitizing and streamlining policy evaluation, documentation, and recommendations, the system allows brokers to redirect their efforts toward high-value client interactions and emergency response. Since launching its primary product fourteen months ago, Outmarket has rapidly scaled its user base to over 300 insurance agencies, capturing a quarter of the top 100 brokerage firms in the United States. The funding will be deployed to expand engineering capabilities, enhance the AI model’s underwriting accuracy, and accelerate commercialization across the broader property and casualty market. The U.S. P&C insurance sector alone generates more than one trillion dollars in annual premiums, presenting a substantial addressable market for automation tools. Outmarket operates in a nascent but growing niche, alongside competitors such as Fulcrum AI and Further AI, which are similarly developing operating layers for brokerages. However, Outmarket’s focused approach on commercial policy complexity and its rapid adoption among elite agencies position it as a leading contender in the insurtech transformation.
