CrowdStrike to Acquire Fiddler AI, Dreadnode for Nearly $500M

CrowdStrike is acquiring two artificial intelligence security startups for nearly $500 million in a move that expands its cybersecurity portfolio as enterprises accelerate the deployment of AI agents and models. The company said it will purchase Fiddler AI for about $400 million and Dreadnode for approximately $95 million, according to the Wall Street Journal. The acquisitions position CrowdStrike to broaden its offerings in a fast-growing market focused on monitoring, testing and securing AI-driven systems across enterprise environments. Fiddler AI provides observability software that helps organizations monitor AI agents operating inside their networks and workflows. Its technology will be integrated into CrowdStrike’s Falcon platform under the name Falcon Observe, enabling customers to evaluate AI agents before deployment, understand their behavior and feed operational telemetry into the broader Falcon security platform. The addition supports CrowdStrike’s effort to give enterprises visibility into how autonomous AI systems are acting on company devices and networks, a concern that has intensified as employees and teams increasingly experiment with generative AI tools and deploy AI agents to automate tasks. Dreadnode, founded in 2023, offers software that automates security testing for AI models, applications and agents to identify vulnerabilities before systems are put into production. Its capabilities will be folded into CrowdStrike’s Falcon Guardian product line, where test findings are expected to inform security policy recommendations and help organizations detect weaknesses earlier in the AI development lifecycle. The integration underscores CrowdStrike’s strategy of combining agent monitoring with proactive testing controls as companies seek to manage risks tied to AI adoption. The deals come amid broader disruption in the cybersecurity industry as organizations struggle to adapt policies, governance and security controls to rapid AI usage. Teams and individual employees are using AI tools to automate workflows, develop custom applications and orchestrate agents, often faster than traditional security frameworks can accommodate. CrowdStrike, whose platform is widely used by enterprises and government customers, is leveraging its existing market presence to address this expanding category, joining a growing field of cybersecurity vendors and startups developing tools designed specifically for AI security. CrowdStrike has already been building detection and response controls through Falcon Guardian to help customers observe what AI agents are doing on their devices. The Fiddler and Dreadnode acquisitions further extend that approach by adding deeper observability and specialized AI testing capabilities. The transaction reflects the market’s increasing view that conventional security software is not sufficient to manage AI models, connectors, agents and associated workflows without additional layers of control.
