Auckland One Rail Chooses Cohesive to Implement IBM Maximo Suite for Enhanced Rail Asset Management
Auckland One Rail (AOR), the operator of Auckland’s Metro Rail network, has selected Cohesive—part of Bentley Systems, Incorporated—to implement the IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) version 9. The project aims to modernize and enhance the management of rolling stock and infrastructure assets, supporting AOR’s mission to deliver a safe, reliable, and world-class public transport service for its 71 million annual riders. The implementation will deploy MAS as a unified, AI-powered asset management platform that integrates artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced analytics to optimize asset performance and minimize operational downtime across the entire lifecycle of rail infrastructure and vehicles. Cohesive’s team of enterprise asset management specialists is working closely with AOR to tailor the solution with rail-specific business processes aligned to industry best practices. Jarryd Sisley, General Manager of Engineering and Assets at AOR, emphasized the importance of the partnership: “At Auckland One Rail, we are committed to operating a network that meets the highest standards of safety and reliability while serving the needs of a rapidly growing city. Partnering with Cohesive to implement IBM Maximo Application Suite is a significant step forward in strengthening our asset management capabilities and delivering a superior rail experience for our passengers.” Auckland, one of the fastest-growing cities in Australasia, has seen increasing demand for public transport. To meet this demand, AOR is investing in digital transformation to improve operational efficiency, ensure asset sustainability, and build resilience across its network. The MAS implementation is a cornerstone of this strategy. Colin Ellam, Vice President at Cohesive, said: “It’s a privilege to support Auckland One Rail in adopting next-generation digital solutions that drive performance, safety, and innovation in critical transport infrastructure. This project reflects the growing global trend of asset-intensive organizations turning to Cohesive to modernize their Maximo environments.” The move comes as IBM prepares to discontinue support for Maximo 7.6.1 in September 2025, prompting organizations worldwide to upgrade to MAS. Cohesive has become a leading partner for such transitions, leveraging over 25 years of experience and more than 700 successful implementations across industries including transportation, energy, mining, and manufacturing. With a global team spanning 22 locations and deep expertise in Maximo and Planon solutions, Cohesive helps organizations maximize return on investment by improving operational efficiency, extending asset life, and reducing risk. The company also supports smart building integration and facility management, enabling seamless digital operations across complex infrastructure.
