Google Rolls Out Intelligent Universal Cart Across Search and Gemini

Google has begun rolling out its Universal Cart in the United States across Google Search and the Gemini app, positioning the feature as an intelligent shopping hub designed to help users manage purchases across multiple retailers. The cart is intended to simplify online shopping during the holiday season by keeping saved products, price changes, promotions and checkout options in one place. The Universal Cart lets users save items from different merchants while browsing on Google, allowing them to keep track of products without relying on browser tabs or screenshots. It also monitors saved listings for price drops and restocks, drawing on Google’s Shopping Graph, which contains more than 60 billion refreshed product listings. The cart uses Google Wallet to connect with users’ payment methods and identify relevant card benefits, points and promo codes. For checkout, it supports Google Pay payments directly in the cart or allows users to transfer saved items to a merchant’s site to complete the purchase. Supported merchants include Nike, Sephora, Target, Ulta Beauty, Walmart, Wayfair and many Shopify stores, with the merchant remaining the seller of record.
