Gemini Hits 750M Monthly Users as Google Accelerates AI Growth with Gemini 3 and New Pricing
Google’s AI chatbot Gemini has surpassed 750 million monthly active users, according to the company’s fourth-quarter 2025 earnings report. This milestone highlights the rapid consumer adoption of the platform, which has emerged as a major force in the competitive AI landscape. The figure marks significant growth from the previous quarter, when Gemini reported 650 million monthly active users, reflecting a strong surge in user engagement over just a few months. In comparison, Meta AI has reported nearly 500 million monthly users, while Gemini still trails behind its primary rival, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which is estimated to have around 810 million monthly active users as of late 2025. Despite this, Gemini’s growth trajectory underscores its increasing influence in the AI space. The recent user milestone comes on the heels of the launch of Gemini 3, Google’s most advanced model to date. The company claims the new version delivers responses with greater depth, nuance, and contextual understanding. CEO Sundar Pichai cited the introduction of Gemini 3 in AI mode as a key driver of growth, emphasizing that ongoing investment and continuous iteration will help sustain momentum. To broaden its reach, Google recently launched a more affordable subscription plan called Google AI Plus, priced at $7.99 per month. While the plan was introduced too recently to impact the latest quarterly numbers, it is expected to attract budget-conscious users and contribute to future growth. “We are focused on a free tier and subscriptions and seeing great growth,” said Philipp Schindler, Google’s chief business officer, during the earnings call. The success of Gemini is a key component of Alphabet’s broader financial performance. The company reported its first-ever $400 billion in annual revenue this quarter, with the AI division playing a central role in driving this achievement. Google also unveiled its latest-generation AI accelerator chip, Ironwood, designed to compete directly with Nvidia’s dominant position in the AI hardware market. This advancement supports the company’s long-term strategy to build end-to-end AI capabilities. Pichai highlighted the significance of the progress: “The launch of Gemini 3 was a major milestone, and we have great momentum. Our first-party models, like Gemini, now process over 10 billion tokens per minute via direct API use by customers, and the Gemini App has grown to over 750 million monthly active users. Search saw more usage than ever before, with AI continuing to drive an expansionary moment.”
