One significant move involves a collaboration with Taiwan’s Ministry of Digital Affairs aimed at enhancing online safety. This partnership will focus on exchanging information about scam trends, fostering international cooperation, developing innovative solutions to detect and mitigate fraudulent activities, and increasing public education and awareness. Through Google.org, Google is adopting a localized approach to fight scams by supporting nonprofit organizations. In 2025, Google.org intends to allocate $5 million in anti-scam grants across the Asia-Pacific region. This initiative builds on previous efforts, such as a $2 million grant to a Singaporean social impact organization designed to help people protect themselves from scams and online threats, and a $1 million grant to a Taiwanese nonprofit, which aims to reach 100,000 individuals with anti-fraud measures. The Global Signals Exchange (GSE) is another crucial tool in Google's arsenal against online fraud. This platform enables participating organizations to share real-time alerts and data about scams, facilitating quicker identification and disruption of fraudulent activities. Currently, 20 sources contribute around 180 million signals to the GSE. By the first quarter of 2025, Google expanded its connections within the GSE, resulting in an intake of 10 million signals and the sharing of 4 million. This represents a tenfold increase over the initial pilot program launched in October 2024.
