HARMAN International, a global leader in automotive technology and lifestyle audio, and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., has announced a definitive agreement to acquire the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) business from ZF Group. The transaction, valued at €1.5 billion, includes ZF’s portfolio of advanced automotive compute solutions, smart cameras, radar systems, and ADAS software functions. This strategic acquisition marks a major step in HARMAN’s mission to become a leading provider of integrated, end-to-end software-defined vehicle solutions. By integrating ZF’s ADAS capabilities, HARMAN strengthens its position in the rapidly evolving automotive technology landscape, particularly in the development of intelligent, connected, and automated driving systems. The acquisition brings together complementary technologies and expertise, enhancing HARMAN’s ability to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions for automakers worldwide. ZF’s advanced sensor systems and software-defined ADAS functions will expand HARMAN’s existing portfolio of automotive software, hardware, and cloud-based services. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2024, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions. Upon completion, the acquired business will operate as part of HARMAN’s Automotive division, further accelerating the company’s innovation roadmap in autonomous driving and vehicle intelligence.
