"The Tsinghua-Shenzhen Biomedicine and Health Engineering Industry-Academia Forum was successfully held in Shenzhen - Department of Chemical Engineering, Tsinghua University"
The "Tsinghua-Shenzhen Biomedical and Health Engineering Industry-Academia Forum" was successfully held at Tsinghua University Shenzhen Graduate School from April 11 to 12, 2018. The forum was attended by nine faculty representatives from Tsinghua University's Department of Chemical Engineering and twelve faculty members from the Shenzhen Graduate School, along with representatives from more than ten enterprises and government departments in Shenzhen. Opening remarks were delivered by Professor Feiyu Kang, Dean of Tsinghua Shenzhen Graduate School, and Professor Jinsong Zhao, Director of the Department of Chemical Engineering. Professor Xinhui Xing, Deputy Director of the Department of Chemical Engineering, and Professor Yonghong He, Head of the Department of Life and Health at the Shenzhen Graduate School, provided overviews of their respective units' research advancements and strategic development in the life and health sectors. The forum, chaired by Professor Lan Ma, Deputy Dean of the Shenzhen Graduate School, featured presentations from Tsinghua University faculty members such as Professors Xinhui Xing, Huimin Yu, Jun Xu, Diannan Lu, Jianhong Xu, Jun Ge, Zhihong Yuan, Yuan Lu, and representatives from the Shenzhen Graduate School including Professors Lan Ma, Yonghong He, Laiqiang Huang, Yaou Zhang, Yaojiong Wu, Shuqing Sun, Jian Wu, Kehong Yuan, Honghui He, and Nan Zeng. These presentations detailed the latest research progress in relevant fields. Enterprise representatives from companies such as Shenzhen China Aviation Health & Fashion Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Sun Yat-sen Cardiovascular Hospital, Shenzhen BGI Health Science and Technology Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Wanle Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Shenzhen OSA Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Shenzhen WeiGuang Biologics Co., Ltd., and Shenzhen BGI Life Science Research Institute also participated, introducing their companies' situations and technical collaboration needs. During the interactive discussion session, Tsinghua University faculty, Shenzhen enterprise representatives, and a government representative from Bama Yao Autonomous County in Guangxi engaged in a lively exchange. The discussions centered around the development advantages, needs, and potential industry-academia cooperation models in the biomedical and health fields, as well as the possibility of establishing an international research center. The forum facilitated a deeper exploration of collaborative innovation and international cooperation mechanisms between Tsinghua and Shenzhen in the biomedical and health engineering sectors, leading to a consensus on mutually beneficial cooperation. This event highlighted the commitment of both Tsinghua University and Shenzhen Graduate School to fostering a collaborative ecosystem that bridges academia and industry, aiming to accelerate innovation and development in the biomedical and health sciences. The forum not only provided a platform for sharing knowledge and insights but also opened new avenues for joint research projects, technology transfer, and strategic partnerships.
