Google Deepens Singapore Partnership to Deploy Frontier AI in Public Health

Google has expanded its partnership with Singapore to deploy frontier artificial intelligence across the country’s public healthcare system, with goals focused on accelerating medical research, strengthening clinical care and supporting preventive health for residents. The collaboration was announced during the Google for Health Summit in Singapore and brings together Google’s AI research capabilities, cloud infrastructure and public-health partnerships with Singapore’s healthcare institutions. A central element of the plan is the establishment of a Google Research hub in Singapore, staffed by local research scientists and software engineers. The hub is expected to advance foundational AI models for scientific discovery and collaborate with major academic institutions, including the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, to support research training and future scientific leadership. Google Research also intends to scale its health-focused initiatives in Singapore, including making open models such as MedGemma available in frontline care settings so secure and customized healthcare solutions can be developed while preserving local data sovereignty. In a further push to support public-health intelligence and scientific infrastructure, Google.org and Google DeepMind are contributing 7 million US dollars to the Philanthropy Asia Alliance’s Health for Human Potential Coalition. The funding includes 1 million US dollars for PathGen, an AI platform using Google technology to help countries identify disease threats more quickly and share public-health data while maintaining control over domestic information. To bring AI closer to patient care, Google DeepMind is working with the National University Health System to evaluate an AI co-clinician tool. The tool is designed to help clinicians rapidly synthesize medical guidelines, scientific literature and clinical information, and to assist physicians with complex queries during patient care. Separately, Google Cloud is partnering with NHG Health on a population health program that uses AI-driven predictive insights to forecast health risks, including chronic conditions, across different sub-populations. Those insights are expected to power a personalized AI health coach within the NHG HealthBot platform, using Google’s Gemini Enterprise for Customer Experience technology to deliver tailored lifestyle guidance and preventive care reminders. The partnership reflects broader efforts by Google and Singaporean health institutions to demonstrate how advanced AI can be integrated responsibly into public healthcare. The companies emphasized that successful adoption depends not only on technical capability, but also on safe governance, data protection and human-centered care. By pairing Google’s frontier AI capabilities with Singapore’s healthcare infrastructure, the collaboration is intended to help address shared demographic challenges such as aging populations and to build a scalable model for applying AI to public health in a secure and responsible manner.
