Skild AI Raises $1.4B in Major Funding Round, Valued Over $14B

PITTSBURGH — Skild AI, an artificial intelligence robotics company developing a scalable foundation model for robotics, has announced it has raised nearly $1.4 billion in a new funding round. The round was led by SoftBank Group, with significant participation from NVentures, NVIDIA’s venture capital arm, Macquarie Capital, and Jeff Bezos through his investment vehicle, Bezos Expeditions. Additional backing came from Disruptive, 1789 Capital, and major existing investors including Lightspeed, Felicis, Coatue, and Sequoia Capital, all of whom have increased their stakes in the company. The investment values Skild AI at over $14 billion, underscoring growing confidence in the company’s mission to build a foundational AI model capable of enabling general-purpose robotics. The funds will support the company’s research and development efforts, expand its engineering teams, and accelerate the deployment of its AI-driven robotic systems across industrial and logistics applications. Skild AI is focused on creating a unified AI model that can learn and adapt across diverse robotic tasks, reducing the need for custom programming for each new application. This approach aims to overcome one of the biggest barriers to widespread robotics adoption: the high cost and complexity of training robots for specific environments and functions. The company’s growing list of strategic investors reflects a broader trend of major technology firms and venture capital players betting heavily on AI-powered robotics as a key frontier in automation. With this latest funding, Skild AI is positioned to scale rapidly and compete with other emerging leaders in the field.
