Salesforce cuts fewer than 1,000 jobs amid executive shake-up and AI-driven restructuring
Salesforce has eliminated fewer than 1,000 jobs at the start of the month, according to a person familiar with the matter. The layoffs impacted roles across multiple departments, including marketing, product management, data analytics, and Salesforce’s Agentforce AI product, as confirmed by LinkedIn posts and profiles, as well as two employees who spoke with Business Insider. The workforce reductions come amid a broader executive reshuffle at the company. Salesforce has appointed six new leaders to replace five high-profile executives who have announced their departures since December. The changes signal a period of transition as the company refines its leadership structure and strategic direction. The move follows a major shift in Salesforce’s customer support operations. In August, CEO Marc Benioff revealed that the company had used AI agents to cut its support staff from 9,000 to 5,000, a move aimed at improving efficiency and reducing costs. The recent layoffs appear to be part of a larger effort to streamline operations and integrate AI more deeply across the organization. While the company has not released official details on the scale of the job cuts, at least nine employees confirmed their roles were eliminated through LinkedIn updates. The changes reflect growing pressure on tech companies to optimize spending and adapt to evolving AI-driven workflows, even as they continue to invest in emerging technologies.
