Temporal Information Extraction
Temporal Information Extraction is an important task in natural language processing that focuses on identifying and extracting entities related to time intervals from text and determining the temporal relationships between these entities. This task aims to extract time expressions, events, and auxiliary signals from text, and describe the temporal sequence, modality, and other dependent activities of events, as well as the impact of aspectuality on event structure, through relationship types such as temporal linking, subordination linking, and aspectual linking. The ISO-TimeML standard provides a detailed annotation scheme for this purpose. This task has significant application value for understanding the timeline and development of events in text.
