Emotional Intelligence
Emotional Intelligence (EI) refers to an individual's ability to monitor their own and others' emotions, distinguish between different emotions, and use this information to guide thinking and actions. According to Salovey and Mayer (1990), EI is divided into four branches: perceiving, using, understanding, and managing emotions. Among these, Emotional Understanding (EU) is particularly important for language models that operate solely in the text modality, involving the interpretation and analysis of emotional language, comprehension of complex emotional states, and their impact on behavior and decision-making. In the field of natural language processing, enhancing EU capabilities can help improve the model's emotional recognition and response effectiveness, increasing the naturalness and efficacy of human-computer interaction.
