Ad Hoc Video Search
The Ad-hoc video search task aims to simulate the process of end-users searching for video segments containing specific persons, objects, activities, or locations via text queries and their combinations. This task used the Internet Archive Collection (IACC.3) dataset from 2016 to 2018, and since 2019, it has switched to the Vimeo Creative Commons (V3C) dataset to support the needs of the task for at least three years. Participants are required to return up to 1000 shot IDs, ranked by relevance, for each of approximately 30 ad-hoc queries based on the test collection (V3C1 or IACC.3) and shot boundary references released by NIST. This task is of significant practical value for improving the accuracy and efficiency of video retrieval systems.
