Xiaobing graduated within half a year of enrollment and became a music engineering graduate
Microsoft's cooperation with Shanghai Conservatory of Music began at the beginning of this year, with the main docking department being the school's Department of Music Engineering.
During her studies at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, XiaoIce continuously collected training data and improved her musical expression ability through interactive learning with classmates based on Microsoft's artificial intelligence music creation model.
After only 6 months of learning, XiaoIce can complete a complete song of about 3 minutes in an average of 2 minutes.

Creating an original AI girl singer
In fact, this is not the first time Xiaobing has participated in songwriting.
As early as 2018, the Microsoft XiaoIce team joined forces with USTC and Soochow University toPublished the paper "XiaoIce Band: A Melody and Arrangement Generation Framework for Popular Music"This is an end-to-end framework that can generate music melodies played by multiple instruments. This paper won the Best Student Paper Award in KDD 2018 Research Track.

In addition, Xiaobing also has her own personal account on the NetEase Cloud Music platform, where she has released a total of 34 original singles. The lyrics, composition, and singing of many songs were all completed by Xiaobing herself.

Among them, the song "I Know I'm New" is the theme song of the 5th Zhihu Salt Club New Knowledge Youth Conference. Xiaoice completed the lyrics and singing part of the song.
According to Microsoft (Asia) Internet Engineering Academy, in terms of song singing, "I Know I'm New" is the first performance of the young singer XiaoIce's DNN model after the fourth iteration upgrade.

Is the recent gossip about the XiaoIce team an opportunity or a challenge?
In the past two years, XiaoIce has made many attempts in artistic creation, and the commercialization process is also being planned in full swing. In early June, the XiaoIce team was spun off from Microsoft, which aroused speculation among many netizens.
Some netizens believe thatThe departure of core members of the XiaoIce team to start their own businesses accelerated this process. From a distance, it looked like a split, but in fact, it was just the disbanding of the team and the establishment of their own business.

Some people who claim to be members of the current XiaoIce team believe thatThe idea of XiaoIce team becoming independent was first proposed in 2016, but was shelved due to changes in senior management. This split is just a natural progression.

No matter where the future goes, we hope that Xiaoice, the "most human-like AI", can move forward steadily. Although there is still some distance to go before it becomes an excellent song producer, and Xiaoice's creativity is not mature in terms of empathy with humans, we at least see the direction.
In addition to processing large-scale data, artificial intelligence is still worth looking forward to in aspects such as artistic creation!
