Proofpoint Unveils Industry-First AI Security Innovations for the Agentic Workspace, Enabling Safe Collaboration Between Humans and AI Agents While Preventing Data Risks

Proofpoint, Inc., a leading cybersecurity and compliance company, has unveiled four groundbreaking innovations at Proofpoint Protect 2025 in Nashville, designed to secure the agentic workspace—the evolving environment where humans and AI agents collaborate seamlessly. These new capabilities address critical security challenges arising from the integration of artificial intelligence into daily workflows. As AI agents become increasingly embedded in business processes, performing tasks like data analysis, email handling, and cross-platform collaboration, they also introduce new attack vectors. Just like employees, AI agents can be targeted through social engineering, prompt injection, and data exfiltration. Proofpoint’s latest solutions aim to protect both people and AI agents by securing the shared workspace where data, humans, and intelligent systems interact. The first innovation, Proofpoint Data Security Complete, offers a unified platform for discovering, classifying, and protecting sensitive data across all digital channels—email, cloud, web, and endpoints. It leverages Autonomous Custom Classifiers to deliver dynamic, accurate data classification with minimal manual input. The solution generates a comprehensive data risk map, identifying exposure points such as misconfigurations, excessive access, and data leakage paths, while enabling one-click remediation. It integrates data security posture management (DSPM), data loss prevention (DLP), insider threat detection, and data lineage into a single, cohesive system. Complementing this, Proofpoint AI Data Governance helps organizations detect both sanctioned and unsanctioned AI usage. It applies prebuilt policies to prevent data leaks and privacy violations, and automates access governance workflows for security teams and data owners. Proofpoint Satori Agents act as intelligent assistants within the Proofpoint ecosystem, automating routine security tasks such as triaging DLP alerts, recommending phishing simulations, and resolving user-reported threats. By reducing alert fatigue and accelerating response times, these agents serve as a force multiplier for security teams. Additionally, Proofpoint Satori MCP Access enables other AI agents—such as CrowdStrike Charlotte and Microsoft Copilot—to securely invoke Proofpoint Satori Agents via the Model Context Protocol. This cross-platform interoperability allows AI agents to collaborate and automate security operations across different tools, enhancing overall response speed and effectiveness. Sumit Dhawan, CEO of Proofpoint, emphasized the significance of the shift: “The agentic workspace is here. Protecting it is the next evolution of human-centric security—extending beyond people to safeguard AI agents and the interactions between them and humans. Our mission is to ensure customers can adopt AI with confidence, knowing their data and workflows are secure.” Ryan Kalember, Chief Strategy Officer at Proofpoint, added, “We’re redefining how organizations secure work in the age of AI. For the first time, we offer a solution that finds data, understands its sensitivity, and protects it—whether accessed by people or agents. This gives organizations the trust they need to innovate and scale safely.” The new capabilities will be rolled out in phases. Proofpoint Data Security Complete is available starting Q3 2025, with additional features launching over the next two quarters. AI exploit detection over email is expected by Q4 2025. Proofpoint Secure Agent Gateway and Satori Agents will enter phased availability in 2026. Proofpoint serves over 80 Fortune 100 companies, more than 10,000 large enterprises, and millions of smaller organizations worldwide. The company continues to lead in securing human and agent interactions across email, cloud, and collaboration platforms, empowering organizations to embrace AI with confidence and resilience.
