Botswana is a hyperspectral image classification dataset. The NASA EO-1 satellite collected data over the Okavango Delta in Botswana from 2001 to 2004. The Hyperion sensor on EO-1 collected data in 242 bands at 30-meter pixel resolution over a 7.7-kilometer swath, covering a 10-nanometer window in the 400-2500-nanometer portion of the spectrum. The data was preprocessed by the UT Center for Space Research to mitigate the effects of poor detectors, miscalibration between detectors, and intermittent anomalies. The dataset removed uncalibrated and noisy bands, and the remaining 145 bands were selected as candidate features: (10-55, 82-97, 102-119, 134-164, 187-220). The data analyzed in this study were acquired on May 31, 2001, and consist of observations of 14 defined classes, representing land cover types of seasonal swamps, occasional swamps, and drier woodlands located in the far end of the delta.
