The PDB protein structure data set is a database that specifically collects three-dimensional structural information of proteins and nucleic acids. It has a very long history and was first constructed and collected by Walter Hamilton of the Brookhaven National Laboratory in the United States in 1971.
The information in the PDB database mainly includes: protein/nucleic acid source, protein/nucleic acid molecular composition, atomic coordinates, experimental methods used to determine the structure, as well as other data and information such as temperature factors and structure determiners. The PDB database can be used to search for the structure of ribosomes, oncogenes, drug targets, and even entire viruses.
