NVIDIA and Deutsche Telekom Launch Europe's First Industrial AI Cloud to Boost Manufacturing and Robotics Innovation

NVIDIA and Deutsche Telekom have entered a strategic partnership to develop and deploy Germany's first industrial AI infrastructure, marking a significant stride in the nation’s technological sovereignty and competitiveness. The partnership aims to create a robust AI ecosystem that will advance manufacturing processes through design, engineering, simulation, digital twins, and robotics. The initiative, announced during Jensen Huang’s recent visit to Germany, involves constructing an AI factory powered by 10,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs. These GPUs will span NVIDIA DGX GB200 systems and RTX PRO Servers, complemented by advanced networking and AI software solutions. The AI factory will serve as a pivotal resource for European industrial leaders, enabling them to leverage AI for manufacturing innovation and efficiency. Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s founder and CEO, emphasized the importance of AI in modern manufacturing. “In the era of AI, every manufacturer needs two factories: one for making things, and one for creating the intelligence that powers them,” he stated. Huang highlighted that the new infrastructure will support a simulation-first approach, where AI-driven simulations can significantly enhance the development and optimization of manufacturing processes. Timotheus Höttges, CEO of Deutsche Telekom, echoed the urgency of the project. “Europe’s technological future needs a sprint, not a stroll,” he commented. Höttges stressed the need to quickly adopt and innovate with AI to maintain a competitive edge in the global market. He noted that the economic success of the region hinges on rapid decision-making and collaborative efforts to harness AI’s potential. One of the key beneficiaries of this partnership is NEURA Robotics, a leading German company in physical AI and cognitive robotics. NEURA will utilize the computational resources to enhance its training centers for cognitive robots. The company’s Neuraverse platform will foster a networked robot ecosystem, allowing robots to learn from each other and adapt to various industrial and domestic applications. This ecosystem functions much like an app store, enabling continuous skill development and real-world deployment. “Physical AI is the electricity of the future — it will power every machine on the planet,” remarked David Reger, founder and CEO of NEURA Robotics. He explained that the initiative would help Germany establish a sovereign infrastructure, critical for leading in the field of intelligent robotics and maintaining control over its technological future. According to a Deloitte study, expanding data center capacity is crucial for Germany’s AI technology development, with demand expected to triple to 5 gigawatts over the next five years. The new AI factory will play a vital role in meeting this growing demand and supporting the country’s broader industrial ecosystem. Deutsche Telekom will operate the AI factory, providing AI cloud computing resources to European manufacturers. Industries ranging from small- and medium-sized businesses (Mittelstand) to major enterprises, academia, and research institutions will gain access to the powerful tools needed to drive innovation and growth. The cloud infrastructure will support a variety of workloads, including NVIDIA CUDA-X libraries and RTX- and Omniverse-accelerated applications from leading software providers like Siemens, Ansys, Cadence, and Rescale. Looking ahead, the AI factory is part of a larger vision known as the AI gigafactory initiative. This ambitious program, scheduled to go online in 2027, will be powered by 100,000 GPUs and supported by the European Union, Germany, and various partners. It will offer state-of-the-art AI infrastructure, enabling widespread access to accelerated computing and fostering the establishment and expansion of high-performance computing centers across the region. As of March, approximately 900 Germany-based startups, part of NVIDIA’s Inception program, will be eligible to access the AI resources provided by the factory. NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Institute also provides extensive learning courses and upskilling opportunities, which will be broadly available to enhance AI capabilities within Germany’s computing ecosystem. Additional European telecommunications companies are following suit, investing in AI infrastructure to support regional enterprises in developing and deploying agentic AI applications. This collaborative effort underscores the growing recognition of AI’s transformative impact on industry and the economy. Industry insiders view the partnership between NVIDIA and Deutsche Telekom as a game-changer. The introduction of powerful, dedicated AI infrastructure in Germany is seen as a critical step toward securing the country’s leadership in AI technologies. It is expected to catalyze innovation, improve productivity, and strengthen the industrial base.
