**Abstract:** Professor Wei Lu from the School of Information Management at Wuhan University was recently invited to deliver a keynote speech at the 2024 Joint Conference on Digital Libraries (JCDL). The conference, which is one of the oldest and most influential in the digital library field, is jointly organized by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). It typically invites 2 to 3 renowned experts to present keynote addresses, and Professor Lu is the first Chinese academic to receive such an invitation. The title of Professor Lu's keynote speech was "AI Driven Innovation Indexing." In his presentation, he delved into the advancements of artificial intelligence (AI) in the realm of innovation indexing, particularly focusing on how AI is transforming scientific literature indexing methods, constructing innovative indexing frameworks, and fostering innovation-driven practices. Professor Lu highlighted the significant role AI plays in enhancing scientific research, information resource management, and scientific innovation. He proposed an AI-based intelligent platform framework designed to address the challenges posed by scientific big data, aiming to achieve efficient and precise literature indexing. The framework leverages AI technologies for metadata extraction, knowledge entity indexing, and originality evaluation, among other applications, to deepen the indexing of scientific knowledge and improve innovation assessment. Several faculty members and students from the School of Information Management at Wuhan University also attended the conference. Notably, a paper titled "Exploring the Action Path of Data Practices in Research Context: An Activity Theory Perspective," authored by Chuyu Qin (a doctoral student in Publishing Studies, class of 2023) and Qingyu Duan (a postdoctoral fellow), won the "Best Short Paper Award." The paper was guided by Professor Xiaoguang Wang. Additionally, Assistant Researcher Fengchang Yu delivered a special lecture, and several other students, including Dehao Ying, presented their research papers orally. The participation of Wuhan University's faculty and students in JCDL 2024 underscores the institution's commitment to advancing research in digital libraries and the integration of AI in information science. The conference provided a platform for these scholars to share their innovative findings and engage with the global academic community, contributing to the ongoing dialogue on the future of digital libraries and AI-driven indexing methods.
