Google Beam Partners with USO to Connect Deployed Service Members with Families Through Immersive AI Video Calls

Google is partnering with the United Service Organizations (USO) to launch a pilot program aimed at strengthening connections between deployed service members and their families. As active duty personnel often face long separations during deployments, they may miss key moments and milestones at home. To help bridge that gap, Google is introducing Google Beam, its AI-powered 3D video communication platform, to select USO centers across the United States and overseas, beginning next year. For over 80 years, the USO has been dedicated to supporting the well-being of military personnel and their families, helping them stay connected during challenging times. With this new initiative, service members will be able to use Google Beam to participate in meaningful moments from afar—whether it’s celebrating a birthday, attending a family gathering, or reading a bedtime story to a child, all while feeling as though they’re physically present in the same room. Google Beam leverages advanced AI and spatial computing to create immersive, lifelike video interactions, making remote communication more personal and emotionally resonant. The pilot program represents a significant step in using technology to foster deeper human connections, especially for those serving far from home. The collaboration underscores Google’s commitment to applying its technology for social good, particularly in support of the military community.
